IVF after uterine cancer

16:50…The phone rings and X.A. (age 33) is at the other end of the line and announces the happy news. “Mr Fragkoulidis, my b-Chorionic Gonadotropin iss 114!! Her joy, as well as mine, undescribable.
It is this girl that tomorrow is her birthday and one year ago, she was dignosed with endometrial cancer after a hysteroscopy she was subjected to for infertility.

How life works! Pain, sorrow and disappointment. In such a young age, her health was in danger and now, the ultimate joy and happiness. She is expecting her baby.She fought for a year with surgeries and medicine that stopped her period without  anyone saying something for certain.

17/12/2013 The last Oncology Board meeting. It is decided that, after the third and final surgery and taking into consideration the biopsy of the endometrium, she is healthy but she must try for a baby as soon as possible, as it is not possible to know when and if the disease will reappear.

6/2/2014 We begun the in vitro fertilization procedure due to serious oligospermia (low mobility semen) and five years of efforts for natural conception.
We get three eggs from the egg collection and one embryo after intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection of two mature eggs.

Embryo transfer of an egg of quality 3 (mediocre)

I am cautiously optimistic, but X.A. was already calling the embryo baby and was feeling so sure.I am 100% sure that it never crossed her mind the possibility of a negative result. Such strength and faith in the positive result.

I probably did not realise which battle X.A came out of a winner and that was enough to give her faith and strength in the positive result.

Our second case in a short period of time where, after a treatment for endometrial cancer, a baby comes along.

These are the results i strive for and it is my biggest reward.
